I had something to say?

Well I did a little while back when I was thinking about this blog.  I had a brief thought that was translating into a deeper meaningful thought.

Well the big melt is on, the pathways are covered in ice and my bike is poised at the door of the garage ready and willing.  I have had to curb my enthusiasm a bit at the ice can be a real tricky thing to try and ride on.  I know there is not a lot of it out there in some places.  So I have a plan.  Let the weather have its fun, melting the snow and such.  Friday is a day off I will take a nice roll on Friday and enjoy the sites in the warm afternoon.  Then I will know where the ice will be potentially on Monday.  Thus I am prepared for my ride to work on Monday.  Seems odd but apparently April is here and I am just getting rolling.

We have made some strides on the house and once again if you ever do this in your house.  Just learn to live with dust and dirt everywhere.  I think what we learned is that you need to plan for each area, we took a few steps on the paint that should have waited but it helps to see the color and it is just paint.  So here is update 1 on this project the new lights in the ceiling drywall up and mud applied.  This has been completed and now has primer on it.  We will get some pics up on that front.  I will also add the Den and hallway are in the same prep state.  They did a bit of touch up post primer so we have a little sanding to go today and then we will progress with a quick touch of primer and then on to the final color for the ceiling.

West Highland White (ceiling), Revere Pewter (walls), Italian Blue (den walls), White Down (book cases)

Wow and the floor is going in right behind this.  Hardly wait.  I am hoping to get a little fun up on the blog maybe next week.  I have a short story concept coming at you from our place.  It will be based on the activities that may happen in our back yard.......stay tuned

I think I can see a little light at the end of the winter weather.....

What a pain in the Neck!

Yep that nagging pain in my neck, the sore stiff and somewhat unhappy feeling I keep getting.  Where did it come from and why is it still there.  Well simply put it comes from staring up at the ceiling and putting the paint to the drywall.

I have a great appreciation for those that do these odd jobs and keep a healthy outlook.  I am sure I would be mostly crippled and not able to move if I had to do this stuff every day of my life.  Mind you the guy that did the drywall obviously has some challenges definitely a smoker, drinker and probably never looks to wear a mask when he is sanding drywall.  All that equals a terrible quality of life and I suggest it will happen at a younger age for that person.

So thinking about jobs I am glad I do not have I started to think about this as I was sitting and having my teeth cleaned.  Another job I could do but would never want to.  How is it that a person decided it would be fun to clean peoples gross teeth with some metal instruments.  I can not see any person in grade 10 making that career choice.  So be it not something I am looking start doing any time soon.

So back to the staring up at the ceiling.  Now you can see where we started once we get Lyndon out of the way of the camera.  So this is the sneak peak that will give you some idea of what has changed.  Note the green walls and areas in the book case.  You can see the flooring in this a bit as well.  So stay tuned to see the change over to the new room.

Ok we are fighting for spring and all that warmth.  But Ma Nature is not letting us win without a big fight.  I am certainly getting ready to push the limit of good ideas and perhaps putting the outside tires on the bike this weekend.  We will see what comes.

The dust has settled around our house in a literal fashion, seems the drywall is required and the dust goes with it.  I am hoping to clean this up and get on with the part of making it wonderful.  So much work and so much to complete over the next couple of days.  See how much motivation I have for this stuff.

I am pondering my camera again looking for that little bit of light that gives me the photo I want.  I have found a couple of interesting sites on youtube of course that help with thinking about light and how it influences the shot.  I have started to look at so many things to determine if I could make a photo out of the moment.  It is a habit that a lot of photographers use and develop so I thought I would play along.  I was thinking about some of my favourite photos from the last year.  Most if not all happened in the warmer months as I find much more inspiration when I can get out and not freeze or get fog in my lens.  I was thinking about how I have some photo frames that need to be used and I think it will be a while before I get a lot of post production time.  But that is ok I will keep looking for light and making it a habit to think like I have my camera in my hip pocket.

So for a different tangent I was discussing work and future with somebody this week.  They said to me if you think you are irreplaceable then try this out.  Stick your hand in a bucket of water, pull it out of the water and see the hole that you have left.  Now think about how irreplaceable you really are.

So my kids introduced me to a youtube channel and this young person who I will leave off the named list, said something that many people that are older/more mature or just that much smarter should listen to.  He said something like this, I decided I would not get caught up competing with others, I would compete with myself to be the best that I can be and to strive to be better if not the best I can at what I do because I want to be better than I was yesterday.  I will have to find the post and actual quote.  Sort of stuck with me.

Todays blog is like a chocolate chip cookie, some good bits and some not so good bits.  But hey it is a thought and comment.

I hope everyone is putting a good word in for spring and that the warm weather comes your way!

Yeah Go Spring Go!

BIKE IT!

Seems to me I said something about messing up the weather for biking, well yesterday it was amazing weather and now today back to winter.  Seems a little unfair to those of us looking forward to turning the tires on the pavement.

Well I have remained a little too quite this week.  Not finding the necessary drive to post up to this location.  Not a good week for the discipline to take a break.  I am certainly not pushing the envelope when it comes to getting out there.  I have however managed to get things going on the construction front.  Yes the renos are moving along.  I will leave it at the fact that our house is a mess of dust and such and we are getting close to taking back the place and paint and hardwood and tile.  I am really excited to see how this comes together over the next week or three.

Light in the leaves....maybe looked very Golden.

Uniformity
I have managed to get outside with the camera the other week on the Sunday.  I took a few pictures but I have not had much time to post produce them.  I thought a bit of time in Topaz and some time in the photofx software may work a bit of magic.

I really did not see a lot of what I was hoping for out there on the street.  I saw more things that I was interested in during my drive over to MEC.  There are some older building that I would like to go back and photograph maybe on a warmer day on the weekend.  Now that said I also was feeling it was strange to wander the street with my camera and want to photograph houses without asking the home owner.  So I refrained from taking some pictures.

I had a bit of time with our Massage therapist this week she is a wonderful person that I am thankful to have in our life.  Everyone goes to her in the family so we are lucky for that.  But I was interested in the one book she had it was 101 ways to relax and I opened the book.  Simple act open it to one page and see what you get.  Sort of a spin the wheel and see if you win a prize.  It is a funny habit I have I like to open books randomly and see what I get.  Well I opened this book and what do I get?  I get Journal.  Wow! What a suggestion and I immediately thought of this space.  I said hey there it is you are finding this activity relaxing and a way to clear your thoughts.  Now I know there is a purpose a direction if you will to follow this path.  Take the time to put some thoughts that are in my brain out there and make room for new ones.

Anyway I am certain that this was a random page I just ended up on it and now I know the path I am on is to meant to take thoughts and put them together and online.  So here they are.

Have a fun week.  Take a moment and if you see a book that you are drawn to, open it and see what you get.  It may tell you something!

Nothing, I have nothing today.  Seems that I am not in the mood to put up anything interesting or of value.  So that is all I have for you.

Here is a list of things I like just so you cannot say there is nothing of interest here.

1. Nikon cameras
2. Topaz Lab software
3. Chocolate (should be No. 1)
